Life

I am growing outward yawning and stretching toward the new days sun i'm breaking on virgin shores my waves are washing out lines drawn by the lifetimes of sand there are new colours on my leaves each day, even as they fall one after the other my ripe greens age and in time turn their rusty autumn shades to the wind nudged, tugged and soon torn through burning oranges and dying yellows relenting to the stern seasonal breezes blown about on restless streets and rooftops the pale salmon hues caught by the spawning river new songs are whispered about me the vibrations of sound perk my ears and my hands dance through valleys and along mountaintops spanning the distances of the heart weaving together all great changes and folding my fingertips into silent reverie at the magic and glory of life 10/10/2005
right now is a time for change waiting in the wings a tight-lipped, noisy state-of-mind where earth our home she sings her hair is torn up at the roots make way for all our things from jesus christ through hoolahoops catastrophe we bring rapidly we choke her of the air that she creates inject her blood with poisons that our proven failures make we peel away her skin to find our skeleton remains and continue with a way of life she never will sustain So what is more important as our fraying rope nears end? is it being bigger? better? is is being dead? 09/14/1996
To start at the beginning takes a certain leap of faith to convey the proper range and depth requires mental strength to step forth from nameless darkness with melodic words to say could backfire and destroy if the points not rightly made despite all this inherent risks abound us all the time put the effort forward and define for you your life leave nothing to be questioned, doubted, desputed or denied that sanctity that can be gained is worth the lofty price what reeks of simple pleasure is release at very best a tried and failed but tested true emmancipation from this mess one paradigm cannot predict the one that's coming next i only hope it doesn't reek such foul, rotting stench 03/15/1998
the moon and stars are splendid wonders making eyes widen in awe-struck silence. the time it has taken for their light to reach me boggles even the sharpest mind. we have, for such a brief period, stood witness to life: To both its beauty and its grace. more recently, we've begun to dismantle our reverrence by attempting to explain it solely through the clinical eye of science. by studying the physical fragments and chemical components we have offered forth our best attempts at understanding the nature of our own existence, only to find that the "magic" so coldly cut away by occam's razor remains the greatest question still unanswered. with our cold steel scapel and our surgical gloves we have succeeded in further distancing ourselves in our minds from the world of wonder we seek to understand. we plunge into the forests and jungles in search of another subject to study while, at the same time, the machines of our science methodically eliminate dozens, if not hundreds, such "subjects" each and every day. where once we observed and participated respectfully, we are now consumed by our own consumption, turning a blind eye to the community upon which we depend without exception. science is, in and of itself, a great wonder also but it cannot and will not ever replace the spiritual science that is the very breathe of life. It has attempted to give us factual understandings of how life works. while it has, in many regards succeeded in doing so, we now seem so much further from understanding how to live than we ever have before. science is not to blame. it is only a creation of the human mind and the will of its vision. however, its pragmatic and calculated approaches stand testament to the greatest misunderstanding in human history. where and whenever it originated, the vision of our culture has been perpetuated by a science that, despite its many achievements, attempts to justify the belief that the world belongs to man. we have mistaken our abilities of consciousness as proof that we can do anything, take anything and remove anything without consideration as to the ramifications and consequences therein. slowly we are beginning to see, hear and feel the repurcussions of our misguided cultural vision. as we further bring consideration to our actions we will find that science is not, nor will it be, the sole answer to the problems we have created. instead, a collaboration of science with the love for life and sense of awe that initiated those original questions so long ago, will begin a new quest for mankind. This will result in a better quality of life and appreciation for the intricacies of this web of life into which all are endlessly woven. 01/01/2000
many feats and accomplishments have been acheived over the lifetime of our culture. life for humans has, throughout our existence, grown and changed direction innumerous times. another growth and change is desperately needed if we are to continue in our pursuit of furthering our own great feats and accomplishments. indeed, it may be that such a change is to be our greatest acheivement thus far. for what could be more cherished than to realize the impact our lives have had on the earth and to leave it a better place for our children and their children to enjoy? it is my greatest hope that we focus our creative talents together on the love of life that has been the key to our survival throughout the passage of time. to re-embrace the community of life in which we are but an equal member requires both dilligence and desire. starting requires only that we begin with that in mind and soon those feats and accopmlishments will ring with the imagination of a species that seeks to acquire its own true greatness. 01/01/2000
